The Town of Owego is looking to save money over the long-term by investing in more efficient lighting.

New York State is granting the town $325,000 to convert 529 lights to LED fixtures with the Town covering $279,000.

The lighting upgrades include fixtures along streets in the Town as well as at Hickories Park and at Town Hall.

New York Senator Fred Akshar says the state funding was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
