The New York Knicks will begin the preseason on October 7th with a six game schedule leading up to opening day on October 28th.

Knicks President of Basketball Operations, Phil Jackson, has made several changes to the team for the upcoming season, which includes signing rookies Darion Atkins and Wesley Saunders.

Many people believe that setting up the team for the future with young players who are willing to buy into the system and grow into a competitive team, rather than sign veterans whose careers are almost over, is the way to go.

I absolutely believe that stripping the team and rebuilding was the right thing to do.

The history of the Knicks over the last several years has been, sign veterans with big contracts, who come to the team with attitudes, and lack of work ethic.

Eddy Curry was probably the biggest mistake this team has made in the past 20 years. This cost the team two first round draft picks, one second round draft pick, and $60 million.

Curry's first year with the Knicks was lack luster. Then he showed up out of shape, struggled with injuries, and spent most of his time on the bench.

I wanted to highlight that point, and the fact that the Chicago Bulls rebuild their team with players like Derek Rose, Joakim Noah, and LaMarcus Aldridge. Two of those players came from the number two picks in the draft that could have been the Knicks.

I think a lot of questions will be answered this year. And although I don't expect the team to go very far, Knicks fans should expect some growing pains, but also a big improvement in the team.

The Knicks start the regular season on October 28th in Milwaukee. Go Knicks!
