You might say Jesse Bongiovi -- son of Jon Bon Jovi -- is living on a prayer when it comes to his college football dreams. Lacking a scholarship, the 18-year-old plans to walk on at Notre Dame this off-season.

Bongiovi, a high school senior, has been a two-sport star at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y., playing both lacrosse and football. He gets his fandom straight from dear old Dad, a friend of former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis. Bongiovi says he first visited South Bend, Ind. -- home of the Fighting Irish -- as an eighth grader.

“I just fell in love with the place,” Bongiovi tells Irish Sports Daily. “The culture here, the people here, the opportunities here, they’re unreal. They’re second to none. Given the opportunity to walk on to the team and become a part of this family was an easy decision for me.”

Bongiovi is expected to graduate from Poly Prep this spring.

Meanwhile, his father - who changed the spelling of his name before starting a celebrated career as the front man of Bon Jovi -- will be streaming a show online this Thursday (April 25) from his ongoing 30th anniversary concert tour. Next, Bon Jovi will visit South Africa, Bulgaria, Germany, Sweden and the UK before returning to America this summer for stadium dates in Chicago, Detroit and Massachusetts -- highlighted by a two-night stand in the band’s home state of New Jersey.
