I had no ideas what Huntington's Disease was until I married into my husband's family.

My sister-in-law's ex-husband had HD, and in turn, their children were under the gun of the disease. There is a genetic test you can take to see if you will develop the disease, but if it comes back positive, you have the knowledge you will have to battle a horrid disease.

It starts with little tics then moves on to affecting your thinking, substantial involuntary movements, and leads to losing all independence. It progresses kind of slow, but it truly is a life sentence. You can find out more from the Huntington Disease Society of America's website.

All this is why I wanted to share the details of the Ann's 5K & Fun Run with you. Not only is it great exercise, but you are helping families affected by this nasty disease.

The 5K is at Klummp Park in Windsor on Saturday. Registration starts at 7:30 am and the run is at 9. Ribbons and trophies will be awarded and there will be raffles and refreshments.

You don't have to sign up donators, there is a simple $25 runners cost. The more runners and walkers (yes you can walk!) the more proceeds there are to help these families.
