Plans are forming for the revitalization of the center of the Village of Johnson City.

Residents and business owners are invited to an Open House November 14 between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Grape Vine Café on Main Street to talk about public and private investments to develop commercial and residential opportunities in the Village.

The session is hosted by the Broome County Planning division, Town of Union Department of Economic Development and the Village.

Participants have been working with consultant: Bergmann Associates. In June, residents gave their input on ideas for the future of Johnson City.

There has also been work on economic development plans in Endicott and Binghamton to form Innovation Districts or iDistricts in spots described as “compact urban areas where creative people live, work, play and interact.”  Each district has an anchor like the future Binghamton University Pharmacy School being built in Johnson City.
