In 1969
The Rolling Stones movie "Sympathy For The Devil" made its debut in San Francisco. (Maybe because Northern Cali is a Devil's Paradise?)

 

In 1979
Mick Jagger and wife Bianca got divorced. (I thought it was Binaca.. you remember.. The Binaca Blast)

In 1987
New releases included John Mellencamp's album "John Cougar" and Bon Jovi's video "Slippery When Wet." (Not to be confused with John Cougar is Slippery When Wet.. which is just wrong)

In 1994
David Crosby was hospitalized in Los Angeles with liver failure. (That's when Melissa Etheridge arranged a new liver in exchange for David's little swimmers in a three part swap involving Max Klinger as the go between)

In 2000
The first ROCKRGRL [[ Rockergirl ]] conference began in Seattle.  Heart was honored at the event with the Women of Valor Award. (As they should have been)

In 2001
Loverboy's Mike Reno performed as part of Rockforever's Red, White, and Rockforever benefit concert in Orlando, Florida, supporting the American Red Cross and the USO. (and the Kid was Hot Tonight... (or That Night))

In 2003
R.E.M.'s album "In Time" topped the UK chart.

In 2004
The boyfriend of the daughter of Grand Funk Railroad's former manager Terry Knight was arraigned in connection with Knight's stabbing death a day earlier. (The evidence was Shinnin' On!)

In 2005
Aretha Franklin was among those who took part in the funeral for civil rights icon Rosa Parks in Detroit.  She sang "The Impossible Dream" to close the seven-hour service.

In 2006
Word surfaced that bassist Michael Anthony was no longer in Van Halen, and that he'd been replaced with guitarist Eddie Van Halen's teenage son, Wolfgang.

In 2007
Led Zeppelin announced that the band's reunion concert, originally set for later in the month, would be postponed a couple weeks because guitarist Jimmy Page broke his finger several days earlier in a fall. (Yikes!)

In 2008
Jimmy Buffett was the headliner at the "Last Chance for Change" rally supporting Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama at Tampa's Ford Amphitheater.

In 2009
Iron Maiden and Chickenfoot were among the winners at "Classic Rock" magazine's annual Classic Rock Roll of Honours Awards 2009.  Mott the Hoople, Dream Theater, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Anvil were also recognized at the London event, along with Ron Wood, Ginger Baker, the late John Bonham, Paul Rodgers, and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.

In 2010
New releases included Elvis Costello's "National Ransom," the remastered edition of Wings' "Band on the Run," and Dionne Warwick's memoir, ""My Life, As I See It: An Autobiography."
