August 9th, 1995, the world lost a legend. His name is Jerry Garcia. Born in San Francisco in 1942, he grew up to be the leader of one of the best bands on the planet.

Formed in California in 1995, Jerry and The Grateful Dead rocked the world for 30 years, including recording over 20 albums, including classics like Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, From the Mars Hotel, Terrapin Station and one of my favorites - Shakedown Street. I've always best impressed with the artwork on Grateful Dead albums. Always a creative, interesting cover, never boring.

Jerry of course, has an impressive discography of his own along with appearing with other artists albums. Too many to count, that's for sure.

Jerry was only 53 when he passed away due to a heart attack while he was at a rehabilitation clinic in San Francisco. For this week's Classic Rock Pick, let's look in on Jerry and The Grateful Dead performing touch of Grey at Golden Gate Park back in 1991. We miss you Jerry.
