Today, I am giddy. Insert a happy dance here. Summer begins today. For three glorious months, I will smile more than usual.

The only thing that turns that smile upside down, is when I hear it's the un-official end of Summer in the beginning of September. Please stop saying that. Officially Summer hangs in there until Saturday September 22nd. Even so, nice weather can continue well into October, and I will take it all in.

Today is the Summer solstice. It's the longest day of the year. It's sunshine and warm temperatures. It's heaven. I love that daylight comes through around 4:30 a.m. and lasts through 9:30pm. Although, daylight will now slowly start to become shorter. Nothing to be depressed about for a while.

I would be happy to enjoy Summer all year long. Have the temperatures hover in the mid 70s, lot's of sunshine (and rain from time to time, because we need it.) Yes, I'm describing a few other places on the planet, just not the northeastern part of the U.S. Sure I could move to a place like that, but, I like how our area is during Summertime.

As I speak, Fall and Winter are looking from afar, taunting me. I hear the whispers of cold temperatures, snow and ice. But for now, I will bask in the bright sunshine. lounging in my favorite outdoor chair, clutching a cold beverage.

Welcome Summer. Stick around for a while, won't you?
