I found another one of those crazy days with a title attached to it. December 12th has been declared National Ding-A-Ling Day.

On the surface, it doesn't sound very nice. The name is actually referring to the ringing of the phone, as in you are calling someone you haven't spoken with in a long time.

I can think of many people I haven't talked to in a long time that I'd like to re-connect with. Maybe it's not such a popular thing to do these days, now that we have e-mail, texting and connecting with people through social media.

While I don't comment much on my personal Facebook page, I do enjoy seeing what my faraway friends, former co-workers and family are up to. But even though that's a good thing, having an actual phone conversation can't be beat. That is  unless the person it a long winded talker.

Even texting can go on forever. If you are like me, I'm never quite sure how to end a text conversation. It seems when I get a response, I feel the obligation to respond back. That could go on forever.

So, pick up the phone today and re-connect with an old friend, family member or former co-worker and maybe you'll have a pleasant conversation...or they'll hang up on you, depending on how you left that relationship. Happy National Ding-A-Ling Day!
