I don't know about you, but I hate the cold temperatures. I don't mind the snow so much but when the temperature dips down around 0 and the wind chill makes it feel even colder, I don't feel like going outside at all. It's been very cold for the last few weeks here in the Binghamton area and it's going to get worse.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill watch for our entire area from Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon. A watch means that this could happen for our area. They are predicting that the wind chills could get as low as 35 degrees below zero. At 30 degrees below zero, you could end up with frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to any exposed skin. They are saying the worst part of this is to be expected Friday night into Saturday where the wind chills could make it feel like 35 below.

If you are going to do any traveling in that time, make sure you pack blankets in your car just in case. Even though you have a cell phone, if your car breaks down and it takes over ten minutes for someone to come and help you, you could end up with frostbite. Make sure your pets are inside too.

You are better off staying inside and just listening to the whale on the radio. But if you must go out, dress in layers and cover all of your skin including your face and hands. For more details, check out the National Weather Service's website.
