Why is it when I listen to the Iron Butterfly tune In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, do I keep thinking of that Simpsons episode featuring a church service where Bart Simpson switched out the hymn with In The Garden of Eden by I. Ron Butterfly?

Either way, what a great song the original is. It was on this day in 1952, that the bassist for Iron Butterfly, Philip Taylor Kramer was born. After the breakup of the band, he went to back to school and eventually ended up working in the world of computers among other projects.

Unfortunately his life was cut short, ruled from probable suicide, but there were theories that was not the case. We may never know, since four years passed before he was found with his vehicle at the bottom of a canyon in California.

For this week's Classic Rock Pick, we honor Philip Taylor Kramer with this 1968 version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly.
