A bridge on Interstate 81 in Broome County is being named in honor of New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner, who was killed in the line of duty a year ago.

A statement from state Senator Thomas Libous’ office praises the senate for unanimously passing the legislation to honor the Trooper with the naming of the bridge near where he was killed north of Hinman’s Corners.

Trooper Skinner had been conducting a routine traffic stop when he was run down by a vehicle.

The bill has been sent on to the Assembly.
