Happy Thanksgiving from Big Wally

Thanksgiving is by far, my most favorite holiday. I love that family and friends can gather for feast. We celebrate the rich growing season that has come to an end, with a smorgasbord of veggies, pies and of course, 'Gobble Gobble,' The Guest of Honor!

One of the widely celebrated holidays of United States, Thanksgiving, has its history and origin way back to the ancient centuries. Even though the style and grace of the celebration have changed a lot but it still is one of the prime festivals of United States.

The history of the modern day’s Thanksgiving has its origin in 1620 when American natives and pilgrims celebrated a three days long feast in Plymouth, Massachusetts. In 1620, a boat filled with more than one hundred people sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to settle and inhabit in the New World. However, some opine that the celebration for a good harvest and feast had started even before the arrival of the English settlers or pilgrims. This joyous and cheerful festival marks the autumn harvest. The matter of the fact is that the Greeks and Romans used to celebrate the harvesting season with their own music forms, parades and foods. Nevertheless, the essence of the celebration is to pay tribute and show gratitude to the almighty where as the family reunions are the charm of the Thanksgiving. It’s not only Europeans or Americans, who celebrate the occasion with enthusiasm and fun, but Chinese also celebrate the festivity as their Moon festival from many years. People of Canada celebrate a three days long Thanksgiving weekend as well but the hype and hoopla don’t match with that of the United States.
