The man who is one of the 100 greatest singers of all time, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, has a birthday today!

That man, born May 11th, 1941 in England turns 74. His name is Eric Burdon, from a couple of bands you may remember - The Animals and War.

He formed The Animals in 1962 along with Alan Price and is the lead singer of the 60s smash hit, House Of The Rising Sun. Other songs included, When I Was Young and Sky Pilot which was one of my favorite songs at that time. In 1969, Eric joined the group War and helped make them a commercial success.

Remember the song Spill The Wine? It was released in May of 1970 and was the song of the Summer, getting as high as number three on the U.S. singles chart. I couldn't get enough of the song that Summer of 1970. It was part of an important time in my childhood as I was transitioning from middle school to high school.

Wishing Eric Burdon a happy birthday with Spill The Wine from 1970.
