Now fans can pick a Queensryche, any Queensryche they like. The summer split of the longtime rock band has left singer Geoff Tate touring as the “Voice of Queensryche,” and the rest of the band touring as Queensryche. Paul Rodgers and Bad Company even find the arrangement confusing.

In June, Tate told Rolling Stone he had no interest in competing with his old bandmates while the legal proceedings to determine who can use the band’s name get sorted out. However he announced late Thursday night that he would be doing just that:

“Watch for the announcement of the upcoming 2013 Queensryche Anniversary Tour featuring an All-Star lineup, starring Geoff Tate, the longtime creative and driving force behind the band, whose vocals can be heard on every Queensryche song ever released,” a post on his Facebook page reads.

In addition he’ll be releasing a new solo album this fall, and touring with Alice Cooper in November. His former bandmates — Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton, Parker Lundgren and Eddie jackson — have also moved forward, with new lead singer Todd La Torre. They’ll headline the South Texas Rock Fest on Oct. 13.

Tate was fired from the band he’d been a part of for over 30 years in June over what Rockenfield called creative differences. There was also a physical altercation earlier in the year, and numerous business issues that Tate spelled out in his interview with Rolling Stone.
