Earlier this week, environmental advocates filed a lawsuit in the town of Sanford, New York, whose board of supervisors has blocked discussion of fracking at public meetings.

The Natural Resources Defense Council and Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy argue that the board of the town of Sanford violated citizens’ right to free speech when it voted unanimously last September to block any further discussion of the controversial natural gas extraction technique during the public comment sections of town board meetings.

Sanford,  sits atop a section of the gas-rich Marcellus Shale that has caused so much tension between neighbors and family members. And now we get word out of Albany that Governor Cuomo’s administration this week said it would not meet a Feb. 27 deadline to finalize a set of long-awaited regulations for high-volume fracking,  saying the issue is “too important to make a mistake.”

So now, pro gas drillers are crying foul, and those who don't want drilling are rejoicing. Like Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan, who stars as a politician taking money from the 'Gas Man,' in this video by local vocal group, The Burns Sisters.
