Well, August is here. Unfortunately, that means summer is about to wind down. You may say September is a ways off, but believe me, it will come sooner than you may want.

Many people choose the month of August to take summer vacations, whether it be going out of town, state, country, etc. a staycation at home, or day trips. My vacations are spent in Northeast Pennsylvania at a campground for the most part, but once in awhile I venture elsewhere.

If you choose to do day trips, may I make a few suggestions of places I have been and enjoyed? Enjoy the rest of your summer!

    Corning Museum of Glass

Have you ever been there? The museum is very cool. You can make your own glass, something I have done and really enjoyed. Plus the gift shop is huge.

    Scranton, PA

The Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour and Steamtown USA visits are a must. And if you are a fan of the TV sitcom 'The Office', there are plenty of spots that are referenced in the show.

    The Finger Lakes

Growing up near the Finger Lakes, my family spent plenty of time at Keuka, Seneca and Waneta Lakes. They have parks next to each lake. Nothing like a relaxing day next to the lake in the summer.

    Syracuse

Syracuse is only 70 miles from Binghamton. They've got a great mall with Destiny USA. Of course, there's the New York State Fair at the end of the month. ALways a fun day trip...or two.
