The space in the Centre Plaza complex that had been occupied for several years by The Carlton is expected to reopen soon as a club that will feature recorded music and live bands.

A Binghamton couple, Michael and Sarah Baer, say they hope the new business will open in October.

The below-ground space in the building at Henry and Chenango streets will be called The Cave.

The site most recently was home to Mad Moose House of Barbecue. That business closed a few years ago.

Construction crews have been working to renovate the place over the past couple of weeks.

The operators of the club say it will feature an LED three-dimensional dance floor.

Hiring for the business is expected to start next month. 15 to 20 people are to be hired for various positions.

Plans call for The Cave to be open six days a week. It will be closed on Mondays. Live bands are to be booked for Thursdays and Sundays.

The Cave will have a food menu that will include pizza. The business eventually is expected to offer catering services.
