You'll need an HBO subscription to watch the Foo Fighters' new 'Sonic Highways' documentary series, but anyone with a broadband connection can help the band celebrate the first episode's premiere on Oct. 17.

It's as simple as pointing your browser at HBO's Facebook page at midnight EST. That's where the Foos and HBO are collaborating to stream the group's post-premiere set at the Cubby Bear, the Chicago club at which, according to the press release announcing the show, frontman Dave Grohl saw his first punk show.

The eight-part series, which follows the band on its cross-country journey as it writes and records the material on their new 'Sonic Highways' LP, begins in Chicago, and the first episode unveils the first single, 'Something From Nothing'; fittingly, the band's Cubby Bear set promises to include what's being billed as the song's "first ever in-concert performance."

Those who'd like to attend the show in person will be able to take a shot at buying tickets at this link starting tomorrow, but act fast -- this isn't the largest venue, and the main room where shows take place can fill up pretty quickly. If you can't make it to the gig and you want to watch without paying for HBO, make sure you don't miss the Facebook stream: Footage will resurface later, but only "on certain HBO platforms."
