Going on vacation is always fun and relaxing, and thanks to my wife and best friend, I have experienced Florida for the fourth time in 5 years.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying it’s a nice place to visit, and although I love New York State and the many things you can do year round if you just seek it out, I can see why people retire and move to Florida.

The summer months are hot and force a lot of people inside where most homes have central air, much like the blustery months December through March keep us New Yorkers inside our heated homes.

This past week I was treated to fall in Florida with blue sky, a light breeze and not a drop of rain. I went Jet skiing in the Gulf and spent many days walking the beautiful beaches of the sunshine state and even went to Busch Gardens for the Howl-O-Scream event.

Although I could never completely leave this area, there are too many ties and memories here, but splitting the months and traveling back and forth would be a great way to spend my retirement years, experiencing the best of both states.
