The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Twin Tiers through April 2 due to a combination of rain and snow melt flowing into the rivers.

NOAA says potential flood or near flood crests are expected late at night March 31 for Central New York and over the weekend for the Susquehanna River in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Minor flooding is possible along the Tioughnioga, Chenango and Susquehanna Rivers as well as on smaller streams, creeks and ditches. Urban flooding in poor drainage areas is also possible.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding but it is not certain at this time.

Stay tuned to updated forecasts and weather statements and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
