For the most part, the Southern Tier lucked out with winter weather. We only had a few big storms, and the rest of the time, it was mostly just cold. But this doesn't mean that cabin fever didn't set in. This doesn't mean that the kids don't need to get outside to stretch their legs and burn off some energy. As a matter of fact, I've been waiting for the weather to get nice so that I can take my little guy out to do some exploring and get him out of the house. My child has boundless energy and so my husband and I are always looking for fun and free things we can do with him.

If you're in the same boat and are looking for something to do outdoors with the kids, something that is both fun an educational, have you thought about visiting Finch Hollow Nature Center?

Finch Hollow Nature Center is a great little gem located at 1394 Oakdale Road in Johnson City. Finch Hollow Nature Center is a natural history museum which includes a mile of scenic, easy-to-walk nature trails which wind through a variety of landscapes, including field, pond, and a wooded area. Additionally, the museum features display cases and as well as hands-on displays to help teach your kids all about the great outdoors.

Admission to the museum is free, but hours vary, so before you pack the kids up in the car, definitely call 607-729-4231 ahead of time to make sure they're open on the day and time you want to visit.
