Welcome to Wednesday and this week's edition of our Classic Rock Pick of the Week. This time around, we look at The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

It was on this date in 1969, Jimi and the band were enjoying fame and on tour for what would become their last show in the U.S. The place was the Denver Pop Festival. The Experience consisted of Noel Redding, Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, along with Jimi Hendrix.

After that Denver stop, the band broke up, and all went their different ways. Early in 1970 it looked like the band would get back together, but it never came to fruition. September 18th, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died.

For this week's Classic Rock Pick, here's audio of The Jimi Hendrix Experience performing Fire at the Denver Pop Festival.
