Endicott Police say they want the public to know if there was any reason for women to be afraid for their safety in the Village due to an investigation underway, they would make that very clear through all outlets available.

Apparently there have been social media posts recently to the effect that women’s safety is in danger that have been causing alarm.  Police say they have NO reason to suspect citizens face any increased level of danger.

Ironically, the reassurance from the police is posted on social media.

The statement reads: ”It is not the position of the Endicott Police Department to comment on investigations prior to completing them and in some respects it would be very unwise; however, public safety is our priority. IF WE FELT THERE WERE ANY REASON FOR THE PUBLIC TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT AN INCIDENT WE ARE INVESTIGATING, WE WOULD MAKE A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT.”

Police say they have gotten numerous calls from people concerned about the online warning.
