Authorities say a “perceived threat” was reported at the school and the lockdown was ordered as a precaution.

Chief Patrick Garey said the investigation is continuing but preliminary indications were that there was no firearm involved and authorities would look into just how information indicating there was someone with a gun on or near the campus got circulated.

School officials notified parents about an incident but said they were assured “that at no time was any student or staff member in any danger.”

Police had reported one person had been taken into custody at one point and a second was being questioned.

Normal school operations resumed around 2 p.m.
