Five adults and three children are being assisted by the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross after fire damaged a home on East Franklin Street in Endicott at around 1:30 a.m. June 19.

The fire started between a wall and a ceiling but there were no injuries as the parents, children and grandparents noticed the smoke and got out.

The small fire was quickly put out by crews from the Endicott and West Corners Fire Departments but smoke, water and other damage forced the electricity to be shut off to the home until repairs can be made.

Authorities have traced the cause of the fire to an electrical problem.
