The deteriorated roof at the club’s facility near Union-Endicott High School is to be fixed using some of the grant, which was announced Monday by state Senator Fred Akshar.

The state grant will be administered through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. The funding was included in an Economic Development Assistance Program recently approved by the state legislature.

The roof work will address leaks which occur throughout the building following heavy snow and rain. The leaks sometimes disrupt programs at the facility.

According to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome, the organization serves more than 2,000 children and over 1,500 adults each year.

The Endicott building now houses Life Is Washable, Incorporated, which provides programs and workshops for area residents.
