Police believe a Binghamton man may be be linked to the series of copper thefts that have plagued Broome County.

Authorities say the man was arrested in Owego Friday after a break-in at an Endicott residence.

Detectives say 33-year-old Manani Oliveras of Tompkins Street was charged with second-degree burglary. Endicott police say he's accused of illegally entering a home in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue on Friday afternoon. Copper piping was stolen from the house.

Investigators say when Oliveras was taken into custody a short time later, he had several duffel bags filled with copper piping.

Oliveras was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.

Endicott police say the investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.

Binghamton detectives say more than two-dozen burglaries involving copper thefts have been reported over the past few weeks.
