Elton John Announces Burberry Exclusive Vinyl Reissue Box
Elton John is partnering with luxury fashion retailer Burberry for an exclusive limited edition box of vinyl reissues due in stores next month.
Pressed in a short run of 800 copies, the set comes housed in a specially designed and individually numbered Burberry box emblazoned with John's signature and festooned with gold glitter. Each of the six albums collected in the box have been remastered from the original tapes, cut to 180-gram vinyl at Abbey Road Studios and will include restored original artwork and liner notes.
To fill the box, John selected a cross-section of titles from his bestselling catalog: 11-17-70, Madman Across the Water, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, Too Low for Zero and Songs From the West Coast — the latter of which is making its vinyl debut.
"I’m really thrilled to see these albums reintroduced in such stylish form," said John in a press release. "Choosing these six wasn’t easy; however, I think they are a very good representation of my catalog between 1970 and 2001. It’s been a pleasure as always to work with Burberry and in particular Christopher Bailey – a dear friend. Producing these albums was a real labor of love for everyone involved."
As one might guess, the box isn't exactly an impulse buy — the privilege of ownership will set John fans back an impressive $375. For those able to take the plunge, it'll be available at Burberry locations in Asia, Europe, Canada and the U.S. starting in November, as well as the Burberry website.
