Eclectic Rock Pick of the Week: Florence and The Machine

Florence and The Machine started as primarily two artists who called each other Florence Robot and Isa Machine. When they realized this name was too long, it became Florence and The Machine. When a stable backing band was formed, they encompassed The Machine. What started out as a joke between friends is now their name and a very well known one at that!

The band started out being classified as an indie rock band and evolved into what they are now- rock and soul. Main singer Florence Welch cites Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane as one of her main influences. I immediately thought of Grace Slick the first time I heard this band and was pleased that someone in this generation is stepping up to fill the void left by her.

The band currently has two albums and the song below is off the Twilight soundtrack but have no fear, no humans were harmed while making this song. Let me know if you're feeling this or not below- the more input I have, the more bands similar to the ones I notice people like will come up!
