Dump Truck Stolen in Pittsburgh Found in Kirkwood

A stolen dump truck with the lettering "City of Pittsburgh" emblazoned on its doors was recovered at a Broome County business.

Authorities say the truck was found after someone reported a suspicious vehicle entered private property on Track Drive in the Town of Kirkwood Tuesday night.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a sergeant discovered the dump truck with markings indicating it was from Pittsburgh.

It turned out the vehicle had been reported stolen from the southwestern Pennsylvania city on May 1.

Sheriff's deputies searched the Kirkwood property for several hours before they found a man hiding in a discarded steel culvert pipe in a wooded area.

The man, 30-year-old Jonathan Kimball of Louden, New Hampshire, was taken into custody without incident. Investigators say he admitted he took the vehicle without permission.

Kimball was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. He was arraigned in Kirkwood town court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
