Video from a fire department captain's helmet-mounted camera shows the early response to a blaze that damaged a West Corners home.

The edited recording - which runs about two minutes - shows a fire department unit arriving at the scene on Leon Drive on Sunday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the fire but the house sustained extensive damage.

The Maine-Endwell School District is assisting the family who lived in the home. According to the district, teacher Maria Buchanan and her family lost everything as a result of the fire.

Buchanan is a special education teacher at Maine Memorial Elementary School. A district spokeswoman said donations are being collected for the Buchanan family.

Donations of money, gift cards, clothing and household items may be dropped off at any Maine-Endwell school. Furniture items may be brought to Maine Memorial.

Size information: Boys - Clothing size 7, shoe size 12 and 1. Women's - Pants size 10, shirt size LG or XL and also 2X. Men's - XL.

Monetary donations may be directed to the Buchanan Family Fund at NBT Bank, P.O. Box 187, Maine, NY 13802.
