Doug’s Sports Rap – Wildcats Rout West Virginia

The first eight of the sixteen remaining teams played Thursday night and there were no real surprises or upsets.

Starting with the top team on the bracket, the Kentucky Wildcats who outscored West Virginia, 44-18 in the first half, ending in a 78-39 rout.

If you went conservative and picked the top ranked teams to win, you made the right choice.

The other match-ups saw #3 Notre Dame over #7 Wichita State. The other #1 seed, Wisconsin, beating #4 North Carolina, and #2 Arizona defeating #6 Xavier.

The other 8 teams in the sixteen bracket will play tonight.

Here are my predictions -

North Carolina State and Louisville - Another tough match up to predict, but I like NC State.

Oklahoma and Michigan State - The odds makers are going with The Sooners and it sounds good to me!

Duke and Utah - Duke just walloped San Diego State, but their opponent Utah knocked off the Hoyas. It's another close match up, but I'm going with Duke on this one.

UCLA and Gonzaga - The Bruins have been lucky and by all accounts shouldn't even be here. Gonzaga will put them out of their misery.

Either way, when the dust settles only eight will remain.
