Phil Jackson said at the beginning of the season that the Knicks should make the playoffs this year. I'm sure he had to send a positive message in order to build confidence in his team, but could he have been more delusional about the end result?

The New York Knicks are 15-62 and with five games remaining, most fans are routing for them to lose and end the season with the worst record in the NBA. By the way, this would give them a 25% chance of getting the number one pick in this years draft!

The Minnesota Timber Wolves are 16-61 and right on the heels of that first pick, along with the Philadelphia 76ers at 18-60.

If you find yourself cheering on the competition, you're not alone but the players are being watched and evaluated to see who would fit into the next season. They are also being watched for which teams would be interested in them if they're let go, so it's important that they compete in these final games.

I have been keeping an eye on the possible draft picks and who the Knicks might select.

Jahlil Okafor and Karl Towns are two possibilities. The Knicks are looking for a franchise player, so I'm sure they've done their homework on all who are available.

There are also a number of  contracts that will expire this summer, including Marc Gasol, who said he wouldn't play for the Knicks in an interview a few months ago, Kevin Love, and one of my favorites, Rajon Rondo.

Most of the players and their agents know that Phil Jackson blew up this team and stripped it down to start new in the upcoming season, so the dismal season should not discourage players from coming to New York.

I've said it before the most exciting part of this season will come after the games are all played and the rebuilding starts.

I'll end this blog with my wish list of three Knicks picks -  Jahlil Okafor, Marc Gasol and Rajon Rondo.

Go Knicks!
