I was a huge New York Rangers fan when I was a young boy. I would watch the games on a black and white television set we had in our upstairs hallway.

Last year, I started following the blue shirts again and like many, I became caught up their amazing run to the Stanley Cup finals. They battled the LA Kings, but fell short in game five (3 of their 4 losses were in overtime matchups, with two of those in double overtime).

There is no way you can put the excitement of these games on paper. The stats don't show how close the series really was.

The LA Kings did not make the playoffs this year, but the New York Rangers not only made the playoffs, they are the NHL's best team with the most wins in franchise history (53). With 113 points they are also the winners of this seasons Presidents Trophy!

The blue shirts are playing their best hockey and will start off the first round against a Pittsburgh Penguins team that is plagued with injuries.

I don't think the Rangers are looking past this team. They can be dangerous, especially  when you have a foreign line up that you're not use to seeing, and keeping in mind they almost lost round two last year.

The playoffs bring a new season for everyone, but the Rangers have a mound of talent starting with the return of their leader Henrik Lundvquist, St Louis, Stepan, Zuccarello, Nash, and a pretty good back up goalie in Cam Talbot.

I'm looking forward to an exciting playoff run.

Go Rangers!
