Let’s put the ball jokes on hold for just a minute to talk Super Bowl 49. In case you forgot, it’s the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

There has been a lot of distraction due to the controversy surrounding the NFL’s investigation of a possible cheat scandal involving the Patriots deflated footballs (ok now we’re done talking about balls).

This is a great match up, two teams with identical regular season records (12-4).

The Patriots have a well balanced offense, ranked 9th in passing, and 18th in rushing (17th opponent passing & 18th in opponent defensive rush).

We all know that Tom Brady will be enshrined in Canton, and probably the first time he becomes eligible. The only question in my mind, can his O-line give him enough time to pass? It’s simple, give Brady time to find his receivers, especially those short passes over the middle. Seahawks will never be able to match the score with their offense.

The Seattle Seahawks are the NFC’s best for a reason, they have a great running game, 1st in rushing and 27th in passing (1st opponent passing & 3rd  in opponent defensive rush).

The Patriots defense has to stop the run, and that’s not just Marshawn Lynch. QB Russell Wilson can run and extend drives, if the Pats can’t stop the running game, the ball hogging Hawks will control the game. I know, I know, I said ball.

My prediction is Seattle 28 - Patriots 24. God I hope I’m right!

Even if I am not, here’s one for the Giants fans as we pulled off the greatest upset in NFL history destroying the Patriots perfect season.
