'Blinded By The Light' was originally written and recorded by Bruce Springsteen on the 1973 album Greetings From Asbury Park NJ.

It didn't do well, until a band from the U.K., Manfred Mann's Earth Band recorded the tune in 1976.
Their version reached the #1 position on the Billboard charts in the U.S.

The biggest topic of discussion though since the song came out after Manfred Mann recorded it, is about one word in the song.

Was that word "deuce" or douche?

Bruce Springsteen's version is "cut loose like a deuce."
Manfred Mann's version is "revved up like a deuce."
A difference of the wording in the line, but not the one word in question.
Either way, it's "deuce" not "douche."

The Boss joked about the controversy, saying the song didn't become popular until Manfred Mann made their changes to the song to be about a feminine hygiene product.
But we know of course, that wasn't the case!

Here's Manfred Mann's version from a Midnight Special show back in the 70s.
Enjoy!
