Throughout the history of employment bosses were many times stereotyped as mean, belittling, cheap and often unfair people.

I think of George Jetsons’s boss Mr Spacely, who threatened to fire him on a daily basis.

Todays boss has a whole new set of objectives far above the old “do it or you’re fired” mentality.

The majority of today’s companies are corporate owned, so chances are your boss has to answer to their boss.

The old stereotypical boss that sits around at their desk and orders people to do their bidding is a complete fabrication, most bosses have twice the work load of the people under them, and most do not get an hourly wage, they’re on salary and can work 60, 70, even 80 hours in one week and still get the same pay.

Today’s boss also has to be a motivator, skilled at creating a positive work environment for the employees they oversee.

Depending on what level your boss is with the company you work for, they could be one of the first casualties of corporate downsizing, so there is a often a lot of pressure on them.

Another fact about the boss is you rarely see the real person behind the position, supervisors find it hard to make friends with the people that work for them and in some cases they may seem a little snobbish or conceited.

I was a supervisor for over 20 years and the content that is in this blog is from my own personal experience.

They say you never know a person till you walk a mile in their shoes, well I have walked many miles in those shoes, and I like and respect the people I work for.

Apparently these people really loved their boss check out this video of a CEO who retired and see what his employees did to show him how much.
