Remember the days of your early childhood when you thought you could be anything? Yes it sure was a fun time envisioning yourself as an adult, doing the most exciting and amazing things.

A recent survey of children 5 to 10 years of age showed that almost half aspired to be rich and famous, while less than a fifth wanted to be a firemen, doctor or even policemen.

Do the children of today see wealth and fame differently then we did?

Does today’s parent coddle their children too much and does that give today’s children a sense of entitlement?

I don’t think it’s a slam on anyone’s character; look at the society we live in today, the world is at our fingertips.

Our children watch way more television and movies than we ever did.

They see ordinary people on reality shows and youtube videos become world wide sensations and I’m sure they see themselves doing the same thing.

Many young people today live at home and have no direction or goals so it’s easy to understand why our youth thinks that money grows on trees.

I’m glad my kids are grown, today’s parents have their hands full.

If we could only sample a career and get out of it with a “Help Mr Wizard”
