Endicott-area residents will have an opportunity to tell state regulators what they think about the next step in addressing contamination at the former IBM property in the village.

The Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a public meeting Thursday evening at Union-Endicott High School.

Agency representatives will be on hand to listen to comments on what should be done with a section of the old IBM manufacturing complex on North Street.

About 780 tons of contaminated soil near Clark Street and Oak Hill Avenue previously had been removed from the site. The property now is owned by Huron Real Estate Associates.

The remediation plan for the site calls for continued groundwater monitoring. Those who have developed the plan anticipate the contamination in the zone will decrease and meet drinking water standards within a decade.

The meeting to discuss the proposal will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Lecture Hall of Union-Endicott High School at 1200 East Main Street in Endicott.
