You know those cold mornings when you look out the window and don't see any snow or frost on the ground or grass, so you take your sweet time crawling out of bed? And then you take a long, hot shower and treat yourself to an extra cup of coffee because you've got time. You don't have to scrape off your windshield and you're going to savor every second of staying in the warmth.

Have you ever heard of Murphy's Law? Murphy's Law basically states that "anything that can go wrong, will." And that's what happens on those cold mornings when you take your sweet time getting up and out the door.

You know exactly what I'm talking about...you go out to your car and suddenly your day goes from relaxing to chaotic because you've discovered that while there might not be snow or frost on the ground or grass, somehow there's ice on the windows of your car and you need to get it off stat because you don't have time to stand around scraping.

I'm old enough to know by now that instead of peeking out the blinds and looking at the ground or grass at the front of the house, I really need to walk the few extra steps to the back of my house to peek at my car because embarrassed as I am to admit it, this ice on the windows business happens to me. All the time. In all fairness, I have some sort of seal problem with my windows so they tend to frost over more than the average car, but you'd think I'd have learned by now to just peek out the window at them before taking my sweet time in the morning.

One day, my father-in-law called to chat and see how things were going and I told him that my morning had started out in a frenzied state because I'd not given myself enough time for my car to properly defrost. The next weekend he came to visit and brought a gift. My father-in-law handed me a bottle of Prestone De-Icer and a spray bottle, telling me to put the de-icer in the spray bottle and keep it handy for mornings I was running late and needed to thaw out my windows in a hurry.

I ended up using the spray a few days later and the results were amazing. I walked around my car, spraying the windows and in less than 60 seconds, my windows were completely ice-free Since then, I've kept a bottle of this wonderful stuff in my car so that no matter when or where  I am, I don't have to stand in the freezing cold and scrape. I just spray, wait a couple seconds and am good to go.

I should mention that if you have ice on your windows covered by snow, you should sweep the snow off and then use the spray-  it'll work much faster.
