Written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger and released in July of 1969, originally titled 'Country Honk' it reached the top of the US and UK charts.

The song was influenced by a trip that Mick and Keith took to brazil in late 1968, and refers to a girl who works in a western bar as a prostitute/dancer.

The song has been covered many times including bar bands throughout the world.

In 1970 Elton John included a version in his shows, so I thought we would feature it this week.

Here's my 'Got Ya Covered' video of the week Elton John with 'Honky Tonk Women'
