A Cortland County Jail inmate is facing additional charges in connection with three investigations into stolen property.

Sheriff’s officials say 37-year-old James Gassner of Lincklaen was arrested Friday, May 6 at the jail where he was being held without bail on unrelated charges.

The new counts of criminal possession of stolen property come from thefts reported in October of 2020 and this past April.

The Sheriff’s office says Gassner is charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and three counts of Petit Larceny from an incident in the Town of Cortlandville in October, 2020 in which he was found in possession of a stolen credit card that had been used at several businesses in the Town of Cortlandville.

Gassner is also charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property for allegedly having stolen stereo equipment from the Town of Homer in his possession also in October, 2020.

The Lincklaen man is finally charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property for allegedly having stolen stereo equipment taken from the City of Cortland last April.

Three of the eight counts are felony-level charges.
