Convicted Murderer of Broome Sheriff’s Deputy Escapes
David Sweat, one of two men given a life without parole sentence after being convicted of murdering Broome County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Tarsia on July 4, 2002, has escaped from prison.
New York State Police are searching for Sweat and 48 year-old Richard Matt who were reported missing after a 5:30 a.m. bed check June 6 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.
