More eyes will be looking out for trouble in targeted neighborhoods in Johnson City, freeing up regular police patrols to do their work throughout the Village.

The New Community Action Team or CAT unit is being launched to focus on community policing and enforcement in the most troubled neighborhoods in Johnson City.

50% of the salary and benefits for the two new CAT officers comes from the Department of Justice under the COPS funding and will cover a three year period.

Officials will meet with neighbors at the Johnson City Village Hall on Main Street June 26 at 6 p.m. and Primitive United Methodist June 28 from 6 to 7 p.m.  The Village says working with the neighborhoods will help the CAT unit with maximizing their results.
