The owner of the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home has passed away.  According to an obituary placed by the family, Douglas Coleman of Endicott died February 23 at the age of 70.

Coleman inherited the 100-year old family business at the age of 21 and operated the funeral home for close to 50 years.

Coleman was active in the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, Union Endicott Library and Endicott Historical Society.

He notably initiated a coroner call system and was the founder of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team that attended to the casualties of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City.

Family is receiving friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home on East Main Street, Endicott March 1 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association at 441 West Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, 13204 or the B.C. Humane Society at 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton 13903.
