Jury selection is wrapping up in Chenango County Court for the murder trial of a man accused of robbing and killing a man in a close-knit community on a lake in Oxford.

46 year old Jeremy Coates of Oxford is accused of going to 58 year old David Green’s home on Charles Kelley Road with 43 year old Melissa Crispell, robbing and beating Green to death.  Green’s body was discovered by his neighbors in September 2016 when they checked on him since they hadn’t seen him in several days.

Crispell and Coates were arrested three days after Green’s body was found.

Crispell pleaded guilty to felony robbery in May, 2017 and is to serve 15 to 25 years in prison in exchange for testimony against Coates, who pleaded not guilty to murder a month after Green’s death.

12 jurors have been selected for Coates’ trial with the alternates to be seated April 9.
