I'm talking Classic rock with a capital "C" here. Those tracks that, no matter how many times you hear them, still get to you.

"Gimme Shelter" by the Stones stands out for me. Every time I hear it, it sends chills down my spine. The menacing lyrics, the slow-building instrumental track, and those vocal harmonies by Merry Clayton all come together in a rare musical moment that manages to somehow be both menacing and sultry at the same time. And let's not forget the primal release of Merry's vocal solo in the middle of the track, where she pushes her voice so forcefully it cracks with emotion on the word "murder."

But the ride's not over yet. After one more heavy verse, the Stones brilliantly switch gears and end the song on a positive note, telling us love is just a kiss away.

If you haven't listened to "Gimme Shelter" in a while, do yourself a favor ...put on your headphones, turn off the lights, and enjoy the ride.
