For some reason, when I think of music from 1976, Disco comes to mind, and I shudder.

But not to worry, you'll hear no disco on 99.1 The Whale, and even though 1976 became full of that type of music, there was still some amazing rock music being produced for those of us who weren't really into the heavy dance beat craze.

Bands and artists like The Eagles, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Fleetwood Mac, Boston, Kansas, Kiss, Tom Petty, The Runaways and the Steve Miller Band all came out with hits in 1976.

This weekend, we'll prove the point that 1976 was full of Rock-n-Roll despite the beginning of the disco era, with hourly double-shots of great tunes...rock tunes, that is.

By the way, we’re always looking for ideas for Classic Rock theme weekends, so if you have an idea you’d like us to feature for a weekend, let us know!

Have a Rock and Roll weekend, and remember to take 99.1 The Whale wherever you go, so you won’t miss all that great Classic Rock. We give you three ways to listen –  on your radio at 99.1 FM, online at 991thewhale.com and on your mobile phone with radioPup!
