The Whale Time Machine machine is ready to roll. This week we've dialed in the date of July 30th, 1966.

That's when it was all Wild for The Troggs. It was on that day they were celebrating their number one hit Wild Thing on the U.S. singles chart. The run lasted two weeks, but if you can brag that you had a number one Top 40 hit, no matter what, that's quite impressive.

The song was written by Chip Taylor and is a cover tune from The Troggs. The original version was recorded by The Wild Ones a year earlier. Wild Thing has been wildly popular with many covers since The Troggs recorded their version, including Jimi Hendrix, The Runaways, Sam Kinison and even The Muppets.

Let's Throwback to 1966 and get Wild with The Troggs!
